When you think about lattes, do you imagine skilled baristas, and fancy coffee shops with gurgling steam machines?  I did, until I learned a fascinating life-hack for making milk froth in the microwave.  Tea lattes are now my favorite cold weather drink.

Skip to the recipe for our Thrifty Skinny Chai Latte or read on to learn how to make a latte at home with your favorite Tealightful tea!

TOOLS & INGREDIENTS

  • Your favorite Tealightful tea
We recommend black tea or rooibos!
  • Milk
    Note:
2% Milk, Fat Free Half & Half or Soy Creamer work best!
  • Mason Jar (with lid)
  • Sweetener
  • Filtered water

STEEP THE TEA

  • Put 1 tablespoon of tea into a filter or infuser.
  • Boil 1/2 cup of boiling water and add your mug.
  • Steep five minutes
  • Add sweetener and stir
  • Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup cup hot frothed milk

TEA-LATTE-LIFE-HACK

No latte is complete without velvety frothed milk.  All you need to make frothed milk at home is a mason jar, your microwave, and your muscles!

3 EASY STEPS
Put 1/3 to 1/2 cup milk in a clean mason jar.

Step 1 - Shake the jar with the lid on.  Shake vigorously for 30 to 60 seconds.

Step 2 -
Microwave for 30 seconds with lid off.

Step 3 - The foam will rise to the top of the jar.  Spoon the foam into your mug and pour the remaining milk into your tea.

GARNISH AND SERVE
Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, cocoa, crushed cookies, crushed candy or anything that appeals to you!

Experiment with the tea, sweetener, and toppings.  There are endless possibilities!

Nothing is better than a nice warm spicy latte on a chilly evening, curled up by the fire, and watching holiday movies. Best part I know the ingredients are healthy for me and will taste amazing! Plus to know how easy it is to make it myself This is now in my shopping cart! Thanks Tealightful!
